Coming Up

A breath, a pause, as we approach the halfway point of spring!  Find some balance in your life at this brief moment.  Here at RPL, find books on meditation and breathing, budgeting, tightropes, eating more healthfully, and even maps with scales.  We also have a balance board!

Looking ahead to May, keep some space in your schedule for the amazing Michael Caduto, award-winning environmentalist and master storyteller.  Michael will be here on May 14 with his Energy Rocks! kids’ program, where children will hear stories about renewable energy and have the chance to create some of their own!

On May 5, and each first Tuesday of the month, please join us at RPL for a masked story time.  We’ll meet in the children’s rooms for some sweet stories and then enjoy the many wonderful things that can be found there!  We’ll explore art, movement, science, and building, balancing free play with guided activity.                                                           Our group will be meeting before the official opening time of the library; everyone in the library during this hour will be masked.  Additionally, the library’s air purifier will be running.  N95 masks are available if needed (adult size only).                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Please make sure masks are covering both the nose and mouth.  Please stay home if you are sick or have recently spent time around someone else who is sick.                                                                                                                                              All ages are welcome!  Masks are required for anyone over the age of 2.   10-11 AM

On May 16, the Friends of the Library 2nd Annual Spring Fling Fundraiser for RPLis happening! Vermont’s Poet Laureate, Bianca Stone, will join us for a reading from her newest collection, there will be live art with Caro Tavelli-Abar, soup inspired by Major Jackson’s new poetry, AND Jack Rowell and Sara Tucker talking about Jack’s new book of photography.  WOW!   That’s  Saturday, May 16, from 4 – 6 PM here at the library.

And then on May 22nd, the Farmers’ Market starts its 2026 season, and you know what that means!  STORIES IN THE PARK!  Back again for year 6!  Join Maya at the bandstand for stories, art, experiments, and all kinds of fun!

Summer reading will be happening starting in June with a smash-up kick-off day on 6/27.  Stay tuned for more details, but basically be thinking music, books, ice cream, books, games, books, tshirts, books,    etc, etc.

Regular programming continues with Purls of Wisdom Handcrafting on Tuesdays at 1:30.  On Thursdays thru mid-June, join us for The Preschoolers’ Rumpus at 3.  The Writers’ Workshop with Amy Braun happens on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1 PM.
