Tuesday, June 28th at 6:00 the Rochester Public Library will host author and historian Marty Podskoch for a presentation on the History of the Vermont Civilian Conservation Corps Camps.
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began in 1933 to relieve the poverty and unemployment of the Depression. CCC camps were set up in 30 VT towns including Rochester. Workers built trails, roads, campsites, & dams, stocked fish, built & maintained fire tower observer’s cabins & telephone lines, fought fires, & planted millions of trees. The CCC disbanded in 1942.
Here at the Rochester Public Library, they repaired books from libraries around the state and dug the basement under the building.
Marty Podskoch is the author of eleven books on the CCC and the Adirondacks.

This program will be presented in person (masks, please!) and via Zoom. Zoom: Meeting ID: 896 0308 3788 Passcode: 342248

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Trains, Planes, Automobiles, and Diggers!

Are you crazy for things that drive, fly, work, or roll down the tracks? Well, so am I! Come to Stories in the Park on Friday, 6/17, when we’ll read some books about all of these super-cool machines, make our own out of paper, sing a really fun train song, and have a chance to play the Vehicle Game! VROOOOM!!

We will meet in the bandstand in the park, during Rochester’s wonderful Farmers’ Market, 3:30-4:30. Come for stories, games, and projects, and all the usual silliness!

Come when you can, stay as long as you like!

All programs are free! Call or email for more info, 767-3927 or rochesterpubliclibraryVT@gmail.com
