Our next Astronomy night happens on Saturday, September 19 (rescheduled due to predicted cloudy conditions on 9/12).) Join Sam Newmarco and his very fancy telescope at 9 PM at Liberty Hill Farm.   Bring your own gear, if you’d like–telescopes or binoculars, or try out ours.   Thank you, as always, to the awesome folks at Liberty Hill Farm!

Stories in the Park continues at Rochester’s fabulous Farmers’ Market, every  Friday, from 3:30 – 4:30.  Follow the silly sounds to the bandstand where you’ll find everything you need to make something surprising and wonderful.  Sure to be messy and awesome!   All ages welcome.

Kids, we are coming to the end of RPL’s Summer Reading!  It’s time to think about what you’ve done this summer.  Did you read as much as you’d have liked?  How did you do with meeting your goals?  Whether you are happy or not with what you did, I’d love to hear what was THE BEST about your summer reading, and what was maybe not that grand.  AND we can make plans for creating a celebratory experience, if you would like!   Stop in anytime 🙂

We’ve got a few great events coming up in October that you will definitely want to pencil in now!  On Saturday, 10/3, from 1 – 3 PM, please join the very knowledgeable Natalie Dee here to learn about how AI is already present on your devices, even if you haven’t asked to use it, and learn how to disable it.  Bring  your phones, tablets, laptops.

On October 17, RPL will be teaming up with Rochester Area Climate Initiative to present Small-Scale Solar with VT Natural Resources Council on how you can use the recently Legislature-approved plug-in solar in your own home.  You’ll learn all  you need to get started, from how it works to saving money to reducing your reliance on the grid.  9 AM.

Our annual Craft Supply Swap will be on Saturday, 10/24.  Keep an eye out for calls for donations of your gently used (but not used enough!) craft supplies.

And then of course, there is Halloween.  The library will be open in the evening for treats and stories!

We’ve recently added several new items in the area of crisis response: we’ve got a wet-dry vac, some solar-rechargeable LED lights, a rope saw, and a weather radio.  More to be added soon.

Regular programs include Everybody’s Story Time on Tuesdays at 3:30 for all ages, as well as our two crafting groups.

Come for one or BOTH!  Purls of Wisdom meets on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30, and you can Knit at Knite with Knatalie D on Thursdays at 5 (new time!).  Bring your projects, your conversation, your questions, and your good advice.  Everyone welcome, no previous experience necessary.  We’ll teach you!

Our Writers’ Workshop, expertly led by Amy Braun on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1 PM, happens next on 9/19.

Our snack shelves are running low again.  If you are willing and able, please drop off some snacks to share with our community. Please no bars (we’ve got plenty) no nuts, and noo orangey-cheezy-dusty foods (like Doritos).  Thank you so much!
