Coming up on September 10, another fabulous Upstairs Jamboree at RPL! Live music with the Peavine Boys and friends is the perfect mid-week lift we all need. Come listen to some of the best music this side of the Mississippi–your toes will be tappin’, your heart will be dancin’, and your brain will thank you all month long. Upstairs Jamboree happens on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 7 until 8:30. Donations for the library accepted with gratitude, but please don’t let tight pockets keep you home!
Magic: The Gathering, is now happening right here in the library! Join experienced players for a great game, or learn how to play. Don’t have a deck? Not a problem–we’ve got decks you can use. If you like wizards and dragons and such, this is the place and time to geek out on all of that. Tuesdays in September: the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th from 4-8; drop in when you can, cast a spell, stay as long as you like. The group will continue to meet if interest is there! All ages!
On September 20, you can come to Vermont Energy Education Program’s workshop, Home Energy Use Options. This hands-on workshop explores options for reducing energy bills and the carbon footprint at home. With this one workshop, you can get excellent tips on conserving energy, saving money, making your home more comfortable, and increasing climate resilience. Free, but we do need your RSVP, to ensure we have enough materials for all. That’s Saturday, 9/20, at 10 AM.
Hilde and the Purls of Wisdom are here at RPL to tell you that knitting–and anything else you do for yourself–are very much for everyone! If you like to live on your own terms, come join our welcoming, supportive, and very fun group of crafters. We meet every Tuesday at 1:30 in the library’s main room.
Coming up for kids is our magically amazing Harry Potter group, The DumbleDorks, where we practice disapparating. Ok, really, we’ll read some HP and make some cool Hogwarty stuff. That’s Thursday at 4:30. Afterwards, at 5:30, there will be a screening of an awesome wizard movie! Feel free to bring nibbles and water, or help yourself to our free snacks; that all happens every month on the second and fourth Thursdays: September 11 and the 25th. Family Storytime, for all ages, happens every Thursday at 3:30. And there is always something interesting to explore in the children’s room!
At Stories in the Park this week, we’ll do some more potion mixing, bubble blowing, getting wet, and maybe we’ll have a surprise activity! You won’t know unless you come! See you Friday at 3:30, during Rochester’s fabulous Farmers’ Market!
Our annual craft supply swap is coming up in October. Bring your unwanted, unused, but in good fettle craft supplies to the library anytime we’re open (don’t leave ‘em on the porch, please!). We’ll get everything sorted and set up and throw open the doors in October. Whoopee!
As always, free snacks are available whenever the library is open: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11-6, and Saturdays, 9-12.
Thank you so much for supporting the library–it makes all the difference!
Zippety-doo-dah! What a wonderful day at the library!
