This week at RPL

Kids are welcome to trick-or-treat at the library on Tuesday, 10/28 or Thursday, 10/30, since we’re not open on Halloween.

Dogs Love Stories happens again on Nov 1 at 10 am, with the loveable Shelby and the furry and sweet Joanne.  Hmm, I may have that backwards.

While your kids are reading to the pup, you can plan your future at the Estate Planning Seminar with Attorney Sarah Bouvier Haselton and Senior Paralegal Katie Reen from Maple Haven Law PLLC, Waterbury, 11/1 at 10 AM.

On November 2, take a good long gaze at the stars with local astronomy enthusiast Sam Newmarco.  With his years of experience and fancy telescope, Sam will guide us to see some truly beautiful sights up above.  Bring your own scope or binocular, or use ours.  Other enthusiasts encouraged to come and share their own views!  We’ll meet at Liberty Hill Farm at 6:30; rain/cloud date is November 9. All ages welcome!

Come be inspiring, or get inspired, at Purls of Wisdom, our fantastically wonderful and welcoming handcrafting group.  Tuesdays, 1:30.  The group is currently working on mittens and hats to give away.  If you’d like to contribute, the more the merrier!  Of course you are welcome to work on your own project!!

Magic: The Gathering meets every Tuesday, 4 – 7 PM.  All ages and levels of experience are welcome.  We can help you with the hows and we’ve got plenty of free cards!

Mark your calendars, because there is always more happening at the library!                                                                                                                          November 9 at 2 PM at Pierce Hall, with the generous support of the Rochester Historical Society, we present a free screening of Jay Craven’s Lost Nation.

Our next Upstairs Jamboree is on November 12, 7 – 8:30 PM.  Come for a sweet 90 minutes of The Peavine Boys and Friends.  You’ll be treated to some toe-tapping harmonies and rhythms.  Donations for the library gratefully accepted, but don’t let short change keep you home.  Everyone welcome!

On November 15, drop everything to come to Drag Story Hour with Emoji Nightmare and Katniss Everqueer!  We’ll be celebrating the freedom to be yourself,  people who defy rigid gender restrictions,  a world where people can present as they wish, and where dress up is real. Open to all ages!  Join in the fun and joy!!  2 PM.

New event just added–Button Up Vermont!  On November 19, come for an evening of munching, raffles, and learning how to keep your home warmer this winter!  Speaker Brad Long from Efficiency Vermont will be here to give a short talk with some hot tips to improve your home’s energy usage and save you money. There will be swag and childcare as well!  6 -7:30 PM.  Presented by Rochester Area Climate Initiative (RACI).

We still have a few of those fabulous Friends of the Library Tshirts you’ve seen on your neighbors–but they are selling fast!  Just $20 to make yourself the envy of every shirtless person you meet.

And of course, expect to find lots of great books, free snacks, and our Library of Things–so much to explore at the library.

Thank you for your support!
