October 7 – 11 at the Library

Coming up on October 8, you have another chance to experience our fabulous Upstairs Jamboree !  Live music with the Peavine Boys and friends is the perfect mid-week lift we all need.  Come listen to some of the best music this side of the Mississippi–your toes will be tappin’, your heart will be dancin’, and your brain will thank you all month long.  Upstairs Jamboree happens at Rochester Library on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 7 until 8:30.  Donations for the library accepted with gratitude, but please don’t let tight pockets keep you home!  All are welcome.

Stop in on Tuesday afternoons for a little bit of Magic: The Gathering.  Join new and experienced players alike for a game or two, or learn how to play if you don’t already know.  Cards are available here so that you can make your own deck.  All ages, all abilities, snacks available!   Anytime between 4 – 8 pm.

It’s the time of year when many folks break out the needles, hooks, scissors, and glue, in preparation for gift-giving at the end of the year.  The Purls of Wisdom, our outrageously welcoming and fun crafting group, can provide you with the inspiration  you need to get your crafting on!   Bring any craft, story, or craft-related tidbits and we’ll happily swap tales and tips with you!  Every Tuesday at 1:30.

We could use a few more donations of your unwanted but usable craft supplies for our annual craft supply giveaway!  If there’s anything that’s been in your closet just a little too long, then bring it here!  All craft supplies welcome as long as they are clean, complete (if a kit), and not a book.

The DumbleDorks, our Harry Potter book/movie/cool projects club, meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, at 4:30.  October 9 & 23.

After the DumbleDorks, grab some of our free snacks and head upstairs for a free screening of a famous wizard movie! That’s at 5:30,  on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

Family Storytime, for all ages, continues every Thursday at 3:30.

The Writers’ Workshop, for local authorish types, is hosted by Amy Braun here at the library on the 3rd Saturday of every month, at 1 pm.  Next one October 18.

And save the dates:  October 24, Teeny Halloweeny; October 25, Craft Supply Give-away; Dogs Love Stories, November 1; November 9, Screening of Jay Craven’s Lost Nation; November 15, Drag Story Hour.  Hope to see you at one or more of these!

If you are feeling the need for a day trip, Rochester Library offers to its patrons Vermont State Park and Historic Site passes, as well as passes to plenty of other fun and interesting spots around the state: ECHO, American Precision Museum, The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, Shelburne Museum, and more!  Stop in to learn more.

Thank you for your support!  See you at the library!
