I have checked, and it’s official: it is NOT too early to get ready for Halloween! And RPL is here to help you out!
On Friday, 10/24, join Maya for our Teeny Halloweeny! We’ll have some creepy crafts, ghoulish games, and spooky snacks! Come in costume. Or pjs. Anything at all! 5-7 pm.
Then, during the last week of October, plan on a Halloween dress rehearsal. Trick-or-treat at the library on Tuesday, 10/28 or Thursday, 10/30! This is no trick–there will be treats!
The annual Craft Supply Swap is coming up on October 25, 9 AM – 12 PM. Browse the selection of recycled craft supplies donated by area crafters. Take what you like!
We could use a few more donations of your unwanted but usable craft supplies to add to the pile. If there’s anything that’s been in your closet just a little too long, we will happily take it off your hands. All craft supplies welcome as long as they are clean, complete (if a kit), and not a book.
Regular programming continues with our all-ages story time every Thursday at 3:30; the DumbleDorks, our Harry Potter book/movie/cool projects club, meets on 23rd at 4:30. After the DumbleDorks, grab some of our free snacks and head upstairs for a free screening of a famous wizard movie! That’s at 5:30 on the 23rd.
The Writers’ Workshop, for local authorish types, is hosted by Amy Braun here at the library on October 25 at 1 PM.
Line dancing will happen again, for the last time, on the 16th at 5 pm.
Our fantastically wonderful and welcoming handcraft group continues to meet every Tuesday at 1:30, as does our newest group, Magic: The Gathering. Come play a game or 3, or learn how. You don’t even need your own cards–we can hook you up! That’s every Tuesday, 4 – 7 PM, all ages. Free snacks!
Coming up are some more great events: Dogs Love Stories, November 1 at 10 with the fuzzy Joanne and the lovely Shelby. Or is that the other way….?
Estate Planning Seminar with Attorney Sarah Bouvier Haselton and Senior Paralegal Katie Reen from Maple Haven Law PLLC, Waterbury, at 10 AM. Yes, you can leave your kids with the dog and go plan your financial future! Maya will be available to entertain as needed.
November 9 at 2 PM at Pierce Hall, with the generous support of the Rochester Historical Society, we present a free screening of Jay Craven’s Lost Nation.
Then, on November 15, drop everything to come to Drag Story Hour with Emoji Nightmare and Katniss Everqueer! We’ll be celebrating the freedom to be yourself, people who defy rigid gender restrictions, a world where people can present as they wish and where dress up is real. Open to all ages! Everyone loves to celebrate!! 2 PM.
If you are feeling the need for a day trip, Rochester Library offers to its patrons Vermont State Park and Historic Site passes, as well as passes to plenty of other fun and interesting spots around the state: ECHO, American Precision Museum, The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, Shelburne Museum, and more! Stop in to learn more.
Thank you for your support! See you at the library!
