Coming up at RPL, you can read to a dog! The adorably fuzzy Stella will be here with her human, Sandy, ready to listen to stories or read them. Knowing Stella, some petting will be expected! 10 AM on February 14. Barbara and Wallace will be back for more books on February 21.
Join us for our regular weekly programming! Pearls of Wisdom, our weekly handcrafting group led by the intrepid Hilde (she puts the “wise” in our “wisdom”!!), meets on Tuesdays at 1:30. Sit in our cozy main room for some chatting, project sharing, and lots of handcrafting. Bring your own project or come use our gear and expertise to get started!
ATTENTION Wizards, Magi, and all Magical Folk: Magic: The Gathering, an epic table top game of casting spells and summoning fearsome magical creatures, happens here on Tuesday afternoons. Bring your deck, or make one here. We’ve got lots and lots and LOTS of cards to trade or give away. Our resident MTG experts can get you set up with a good deck and playing a game in about 30 minutes. Tuesdays, 4-7 PM; drop in anytime.
Wee Wigglers Baby and Toddler Playtime (birth – 2 yrs) will be meeting at 10:30 on Thursdays for a gentle, very-young-child-centered time to explore movement, eye contact, and safe climbing. Plenty of board books will be on hand to enjoy pictures, the feel of a book, and simple words. Come let your baby roam in a peaceful environment, and connect with other area families. Each child will receive their very own board book to keep!
The Preschoolers’ Library Rumpus is designed for active 2 – 5 year-olds. Find other rumpusers on the library’s second floor, where kids will find gear and fun stuff that invite movement and creativity. If we can wear them out, I’ll read a few books at the end of the hour. This is happening at 3 on Thursdays.
To round out Thursdays at the library, kids 5 and older can drop in for board games or art; those who come can choose when they get here. There will, for the next few weeks, be a winter-themed project available, as well as our huge selection of board games. We get going right around 4 PM. See you then! Oh, and–free snacks!
Hey! What about the grown-ups?! Yes, you adult types out there are invited to enjoy some quiet time in our beautiful upstairs space. From 4 – 6 PM on Thursdays, various art supplies will be available for some adult no-pressure art time. This is time for you–no rushing, no noise, no goals other than relaxation and exploration. Let yourself relax into the moment with art.
Amy Braun will work with you and other area writers to hone your authorly skills at her monthly Writers’ Workshop, meeting on the third Saturday of each month at 1 PM. Next one is 2/21.
