The Rochester Public Library is governed by 5 library trustees elected at Town Meeting for 5 year terms. Trustees set the policies that guide the Library Director and staff in the day to day operations of the library.

Library policies assure that:

 Library materials and services are available to all library patrons in the fairest and timeliest manner

The library is administered in a fiscally sound manner

Patrons’ privacy is protected

Citizen’s First Amendment freedom to read is protected.
